WREI Construction has been on the leading edge of creating outdoor Kitchens & living spaces professionally since 2008. But it started long before that. My name is Peter Westbrook. When I graduated from high school I had high aspirations and no money. I wanted to go to college, and I quickly learned that if that was the plan, I needed to find a way pay for it. I needed to WORK.

My cousin was older and owned a construction company so I went to work for him. It was economics, I would build fences, patio covers, decks and install hot-tubs and go to college at night. It worked.

I graduated from college with a BS Degree and left the construction industry to pursue a career in technology and communications. I swore that I would never pick up a hammer to make a living for my new family again. Construction was good enough to put myself through college, but it was not what I wanted to do, nor what I thought was my passion. All I can say to that is, “Never say Never”.

The truth is, I thought that I had severed the cord to my life in construction, but the passion for creating and building had never left and I quickly found myself as a weekend warrior designing, building and making the outside of my home as functional and as desirable as the inside. The year was 1984 and I was consumed by every next project when I got home.

Long before the advent of outdoor kitchens, I built one. I then added an out door patio with Gazebo and dining room connected with walkways to a Koi pond and gardens. My passion has always been to make my house a one of a kind that lures me out when I wake up and and back again to relax and reflect before I go to bed.

I often pace around my yard listening to the water from the waterfalls to the creek and the ponds that run 24/7, 365 days a year. It is our family sanctuary, entertainment center and place to reflect when life decides its time to toss another curve ball. I know the solitude it brings and along with it a place to go that is nothing like anywhere else.

Now we use the backyard for more than that, I cook a lot, Weather its on our Bull BBQ, the Traeger or our Pizza Oven. I cook outside more that half of the year and that makes my life when I get home relaxing and easy.

Most people think that we have built a massive time commitment for weekend upkeep and maintenance, but the truth is, I spend less than an hour a week maintaining our backyard. Some weeks I spend no time at all.
